Arrival Instructions
We are looking forward to your visit to Costa Rica.Following are some helpful instructions to help you kick off your trip to Goodness Dental, and make it all go a little smoother.
CONTACT NUMBERS:
If you need anything when you arrive, you can call the clinic or your Patient Coordinator. The local number for the clinic is +506 4037-0040 (during business hours). The US toll-free number is: (866) 406-2744.
Your first appointment time will be emailed to you prior to your trip. Please plan to be at the clinic about 30 minutes early for preliminary X-rays and paperwork. Your next appointment(s) times will be given to you during your first appointment.
Appointment times are tentative and subject to change. As with all things medical, the unexpected can intervene and throw schedules off, usually because of things beyond our control, but times given should be close.
The clinic air conditioning can be cold, in case you would like to wear or bring something to stay warm.
We hope you find these travel tips useful:
- Currency: The money here is the Costa Rica Colon (CRC), and the exchange rate is around 500 colones to one USD $1 so 5,000 colones is $10, etc. Paper money starts with 1000 colones, about $1.80, so a 10,000 colones note is worth around $18. You get the worst exchange rate at the airport, and the best rate at national banks. Dollar denominations of $20 US or less are widely accepted here. Click here for the daily exchange rate.
- The “green” season is May – October, so an afternoon shower may be expected, but regardless, mornings are almost always sunny here in the highlands. An umbrella or rain poncho might be useful.
- Remember that dental care is your priority when booking appointments with Goodness Dental. If you need to cancel a dental appointment due to a conflict with a tour, you will be charged a fee for a missed appointment.
- Please leave valuables at home…. it’s hard enough to find misplaced items at home, but if you’ve been in multiple places while visiting like a hotel, restaurant, Uber, etc., it is especially difficult. Dress is very casual here.
- After dental surgery like extractions and implant placement, you need to be on liquids and/or soft foods for a few days. If you have a favorite protein powder or other products you like, be aware they may or may not be available here, so bring it with you, along with any medications you need while here. Because of import taxes, imported goods cost more here, sometimes double.
